Company Information

COMPANY CALENDAR INFO

The calendar currently posted is an example/preliminary calendar and is subject to change once we receive Conflict Sheets from all company families.

After Conflict Sheets have been reviewed, the calendar will be updated and re-posted on this private Company webpage. Throughout the season, additional changes and updates may be made when necessary, so please check this page regularly.

Rather than sending updated PDFs through email, we will use this private Company page as our central location where we will update the calendar and other important scheduling information and dates.

CONFLICT SHEETS

Each company family will need to fill out a Conflict Sheet. This gives you the opportunity to carefully review the preliminary calendar and let us know about dates you already know your dancer will be unavailable.

Please list all known conflicts, including life events, family trips, school commitments, and other obligations that may interfere with rehearsals or performances.

Once all Conflict Sheets have been received, we will do our best to adjust and finalize the rehearsal calendar.

Mandatory Dates: Events shown in bold on the calendar are MANDATORY.

Please make these dates a priority when planning your family’s schedule. If you already see a conflict with a mandatory event, please bring it to our attention immediately so we can discuss it.

Being part of a successful company requires commitment from the entire team. Our dancers depend on one another, and the success of our groups can only happen when we receive the same level of commitment from all dancers and families.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY REHEARSALS

You will notice several rehearsal dates listed on the Company calendar. These dates represent rehearsals for all of our different company groups and do not necessarily mean that your dancer will rehearse every weekend.

For example, CPC, our youngest company group, will generally rehearse approximately once per month on the weekend, unless additional rehearsals are needed before a competition or performance.

Our director and or choreographers may be at the studio every weekend working with different groups, which is why you will see multiple rehearsal dates listed throughout the calendar.

We are also hoping to hold some rehearsals on Friday evenings instead of Saturdays when possible.

Please Keep Some Flexibility

We will do our very best to follow the rehearsal schedule as posted; however, rehearsal times may occasionally:

Move by an hour or two

Be extended when additional rehearsal is needed

Move from Saturday to Friday evening

Be added when a group needs additional preparation

We will always try to give families as much advance notice as possible. However, there may occasionally be times when an additional or last-minute rehearsal is necessary, particularly as we approach performances or competitions.

REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE

Consistent attendance at rehearsals is extremely important.

If you know your dancer must miss a rehearsal, please include that date on your Conflict Sheet. We completely understand that life happens and unexpected circumstances come up. If a rehearsal absolutely must be missed especially before a performance, we ask that you give us a few weeks’ notice whenever possible.

This allows the director to determine the best solution, which may include:

Adjusting or rescheduling the rehearsal

Continuing with the scheduled rehearsal

Arranging a private lesson for your dancer to learn what was missed

When dancers are unexpectedly absent, rehearsals can become unproductive for the entire group and can waste valuable rehearsal time for both the dancers and director and or choreographer. Every dancer plays an important role in the success of their team.

PLANNING AHEAD

We are doing our best to plan several months in advance so families can make company commitments part of their calendars.

We understand that it may be difficult to know every conflict you will have in the spring. At minimum, please carefully review all mandatory dates and set those aside now.

Once Conflict Sheets are received and reviewed, we will update the calendar accordingly.

BAND APP & COMPANY COMMUNICATION

In addition to this private Company webpage, we use the BAND app for quick communication, reminders, and last-minute updates.

All company families should:

Download the BAND app

Accept the Summerbella All Company and Company group specific invitation.

Turn on notifications

BAND allows us to quickly notify families when there is an important reminder, communicate at events, schedule change, or new information posted to the Company webpage.

Please make sure notifications are turned on so you don’t miss important Company communication.

OPTIONAL SOLOS, DUOS & TRIOS

All Summerbella Company dancers have the opportunity to participate in solo, duo, and/or trio work during the season.

These additional dances are a wonderful way for dancers to:

Receive more individualized instruction

Build confidence and stage presence

Strengthen technique and performance skills

Work one-on-one or in a small group with a teacher

Gain additional performance and competition experience

Dancers may request to work with any Summerbella instructor who offers choreography.

Families interested in this opportunity will receive a Solo/Duo/Trio Request Form that must be completed and returned.

Additional Fees

Solos, duos, and trios involve additional expenses beyond regular Company fees.

Each choreographer sets their own flat choreography rate. There will also be a flat studio rental fee per dance, which gives dancers priority access to studio space throughout the season for rehearsing their additional choreography, admin assistance, and music/media edition for routines.

Competition entry fees for solos, duos, and trios are also separate.

COMPETITION WEEKENDS

We plan to attend 3 mandatory competitions this season. Our youngest CPC group will have the option to attend 3 if all in the group opt in but will only be required to attend 2. These are indicated on the calendar.

Competition weekends require full availability, and we kindly ask that families block out the entire weekend once a competition is listed on the calendar. We typically do not receive final competition schedules until approximately 10 days prior to the event, and dancers may be scheduled to perform on one, two, or all three days of the weekend.

Because competition schedules are determined entirely by the event directors and are outside of our control, we are unable to rearrange performance times or days for individual family convenience.

Most often, our youngest dancers will only be performing one to two routines, and these are usually scheduled on the same day within a few hours of each other. Dancers participating in solo, duo, or trio work can generally expect those performances to be scheduled on a different day than their group routines.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we navigate these professional event schedules, and we always encourage families to plan ahead with the expectation that the full weekend may be needed.

OPTIONAL COMPETITIONS

Competitions highlighted in purple on the calendar are OPTIONAL. A google form will be sent to collect interest in these extra events.

These provide additional performance opportunities for dancers participating in solos, duos, trios, and other eligible dances.

More information about individual competitions, entry deadlines, and fees will be provided as we move through the season.

SUMMERBELLA COMPANY PRE-SEASON GALA

We are excited to bring back our Summerbella Company Spring Gala!

This year, we are treating our Gala as a fun Pre-Season Performance patterned after “America's Got Talent” before we officially begin competition season.

The Gala gives our dancers the opportunity to perform their:

Solos • Duos • Trios • Company Group Numbers

before taking the competition stage.

Our goal is to create the excitement and experience of a competition in a fun, supportive Summerbella environment. Dancers can work through those first-performance nerves, receive feedback, and gain confidence before competition season begins.

We plan to have a panel of judges and create our own fun “Summerbella’s Got Talent" style event!

Bring Your Family & Friends!

One of the best parts of our Gala is that families can invite grandparents, relatives, neighbors, and friends to come watch their dancer perform.

We know it isn’t always feasible for extended family and friends to attend competitions, so this gives everyone a wonderful opportunity to see what our dancers have been working so hard to accomplish.

Location

The Gala will be held at the Blue Goose Event Center in Loomis, where Summerbella has enjoyed many wonderful events with our families in the past.

Gala Fees

Rather than selling individual audience tickets, we plan to charge dancers a low performance entry fee, similar to a competition entry fee.

The fee will be based on the number of dances your dancer performs and will help us cover the cost of the venue and event. Our goal is to keep this fee as low and affordable as possible while creating a special performance experience for our dancers and families.

COMPANY DRESS CODE & REQUIRED APPAREL

All Summerbella Company dancers are required to have the following Company apparel for rehearsals, performances, competitions, and special events throughout the season:

Summerbella Signature Black Leotard

Summerbella Logo Black Zip-Up Track Jacket

Summerbella Logo Black T-Shirt

Rehearsals & Choreography

Dancers should wear their black Summerbella Signature Leotard to Company choreography sessions and rehearsals. Having our dancers dressed consistently creates a clean, professional environment and allows directors and choreographers to clearly see body lines while working.

The Signature Leotard may also be used throughout the season to layer underneath certain costumes, so every Company dancer must have one.

Competitions & Outside Events

Whenever Summerbella Company attends a competition, performance, or outside event, dancers should arrive wearing their Summerbella Logo T-Shirt and black Logo Zip-Up Jacket, unless otherwise instructed.

Our dancers represent Summerbella when we are out in the community, and coordinated Company apparel helps us look polished, professional, and unified as a team.

We may also be implementing a Company-specific skirt this season. Additional information will be provided if this item is added to our required Company apparel.

Required Dance Shoes

All Company dancers should have the appropriate shoes for their level and choreography:

Jazz: BLOCH Tan Jazz Shoes

Ballet: Ballet Pink Ballet Shoes

Lyrical/Contemporary: Tan or skin tone Half Soles

Tap: Shoe color and style are specific to each dancer’s level and will be communicated separately.

Black Jazz Shoes: These may occasionally be required depending on costuming and choreography. If needed, families will be notified later in the season.

Please clearly label all shoes, apparel, jackets, and Company merchandise with your dancer’s name, as many dancers will have identical items.

FINANCIAL COMMITMENT AND FEES

Participation in Summerbella Company involves a financial commitment throughout the season. Below is a general breakdown of expected fees:

Director Fee: $600 for all Company dancers or $400 for CPC dancers, depending on level placement. This goes to help compensate weekend rehearsals, choreography planning, admin time for event planning, communication, and competition inputting, and music/media editing.

Costumes: Custom costume fees typically range from $75 for most group numbers and up to approximately $120 per costume for more elaborate costuming most often for solo’s, duo’s or trio’s, depending on design and materials. For our two annual recitals, we do our best to utilize in-house rental costumes ($50 per costume) whenever possible to help reduce overall costs.

Company Merchandise: All required Company merchandise is individually priced and will be available now or at the beginning of September for purchase at the front desk .

Solo/Duo/Trio Choreography: Fees vary depending on the choreographer and are billed separately if families choose to participate in additional choreography.

Recital Fees: These are consistent across the studio and include a participation fee to help offset the cost of renting our performance theater, as well as a $40 media package that goes to the photographer for professional photos and performance video.

Private Photo Shoot: Company dancers will participate in a private photo session with Tony Nguyen Photography on September 20. His sitting fee is typically around $50 (subject to change) and is applied toward any photo purchases made once galleries are released.

Field Trips & Outside Events: Optional activities such as ballet outings or special events may include additional costs (such as tickets or activity fees), which will be communicated on a case-by-case basis.

Competition Fees: Group entry fees generally range from $75–$90 per dancer per routine. Solo entries typically range from $150–$240 per routine, and duos/trios are usually $100–$150 per dancer per routine. Please note that pricing varies by competition, and updated fee schedules will be provided as they are released each season.

COMPANY FAMILY VOLUNTEERS

Being part of Summerbella Company is about more than what happens on stage. It is also about creating a supportive Company family.

At every show and major event, we rely on parent volunteers. We have found that our volunteer parents build wonderful friendships, and our dancers take pride in seeing their families involved in what they love.

Many hands make light work, and we truly appreciate your help!

We would love to know about any special skills or talents you may be willing to share, including:

Sewing or costume alterations

Steaming and organizing costumes

Painting

Building or creating props

Backstage supervision

Working with children

Stagehand or theater experience

Event organization

Photography or other useful talents

Even if you don’t have a particular skill, we always need helping hands backstage!

COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

We would also love to get our Summerbella Company dancers out into our community more often!

If you have connections with senior living communities, community organizations, festivals, charitable events, local businesses, or other venues where our dancers might have an opportunity to perform, please let us know.

If you are a parent who would enjoy helping us coordinate community performances and outreach, we would especially love to hear from you!

SUMMERBELLA COMPANY FUNDRAISING

We highly encourage Company families who are interested in fundraising to help offset some of the costs associated with Company participation. Summerbella will not be initiating or managing fundraising efforts directly; however, we are happy to support families who would like to take the lead.

Summerbella has nonprofit status, which allows us to support approved fundraising activities within the parameters of our organization. Fundraisers we have seen work successfully in the past include raffle baskets, chocolate or product sales, partnerships with local businesses, community events, and other creative fundraising opportunities.

If you have a great fundraising idea, would like to organize a fundraiser, or are interested in becoming a Company Fundraising Lead, please let us know! We would love to have a parent or group of parents help coordinate these opportunities for our Company families.

Before beginning any fundraising activity using the Summerbella name, please connect with us first so we can explain the appropriate guidelines and parameters under the Summerbella nonprofit organization.

Fundraising is completely optional, but it can be a wonderful way for our Company families to work together, connect with our community, and help make some of the additional costs of Company participation more manageable.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITMENT!

Being part of a dance company requires commitment not only from our dancers, but also from their families, teachers, and directors.

Our goal is to provide our dancers with opportunities to grow as artists, build confidence, develop responsibility, create friendships, and experience the joy of performing as part of a team.

Thank you for helping us create a positive, committed, and supportive Summerbella Company family. We are looking forward to an incredible season together!

Please remember: Check this Company page often and keep your BAND notifications turned on for the most current information.
